Rowing Machine for Exercise
For aerobic conditioning and fat burning, a rowing machine for exercise is an effective tool. Exercise rowing machines provide the ability to workout your upper body and lower body at the same time, allowing you to use most of your muscles during aerobic training. This differs from popular exercise equipment such as a treadmill, stationary bike, or stair stepper.
Working out on a rowing machine utilizes 65-75% of your legs and 25-35% of your upper body. The full body aerobic workout provided by a rowing machine strengthens your heart and lungs, and your muscles as well.
The major muscle groups used when you exercise on a rowing machine are:
• Calves
• Quadriceps
• Hamstrings
• Gluteals
• Lower back
• Lats
• Posterior deltoids
• Trapezius
• Rhomboids
• Biceps
• Forearms
If you’re working out with an indoor rower, be sure to add pushing exercises such as pushups, bench presses, or dumbbell presses to your regiment in order to target the chests, triceps, and shoulder muscles.
